Batman: The Killing Joke - Christa Faust & Gary Phillips.
For someone who is an avid DC and Marvel fan, I've always been a bit cautious of adaptations - that's in territory of films and television also. However, this book did not disappoint me at all. Not to mention the beautiful artwork on the front cover. I have two of these adaptations including 'Court of Owls' but I do intend on getting 'Mad Love'
From the authors notes within the book this adaptation has been based on the graphic novel with the same name and the television show 'Gotham' Which, I'm a big fan of both so winner there.
This book covers in details a fight between Batman & the Joker which also results in some set backs with Commissioner Gordan and his daughter Barbara also known as 'Batgirl' whose been working alongside Batman for a while now. It touches base with a back story for the Joker although there are hints to say it may not be entirely true and the beginning of Joker's romance with Harleen Quinzel, as she works in Arkham Asylum.
The novel was set in three different parts, but sometimes chapters also went to other characters which touched on various gangs who are involved in dealing drugs using Jokers venom.
Personally being a fan of anything superhero or super villain, I give it a 4 out of 5 stars, if you're a fan of the franchise it's good to give these a try. You get a different story from all the films and television programmes that go on and become popular very quickly - it's the literature that deserves all the credit because without it, the films wouldn't exist.
