Goldilocks - Laura Lam
Synopsis
Despite increasing restrictions on the freedoms of women on earth, Valerie Black is spearheading the first all-female mission to a planet in the Goldilocks Zone, where conditions are just right for human habitation. It's humanity's last hope for survival and Naomi, Valerie's surrogate daughter and the ships botanist, has been waiting her whole life for an opportunity like that - to step out of Valerie's shadow and really make a difference.
But when things start going wrong on the ship Naomi starts to suspect that someone on board is concealing a terrible secret - and realizes time for life on Earth may be running out faster than they feared.

I haven't read a lot of 'sci-fi' in my time. My genre's are normally focused on Horror, Thriller and International. However this was a pleasant surprise and a good ease back into the genre after a while.
The majority of the novel is based on the ship itself between earth's orbit and their destination. It flips between their travels to the Cavendish which is the planet they are trying to find to start a new generation on and the last which is only life time moments which has gotten Naomi to where she is in current time on the ship.
It was definitely a slow burner until I got about midway through then it was easy-breezy from there and it left me wanting more. There was a point in the book where I was like 'WHATTTTTTT!!!!!!!!' If you know you know.
It's made me excited for more of Laura Lam's work because this one was a solid 4 out of 5 stars for me.
Thankyou :)
